God Said Let It Go….., So I Guess I Will

Sometimes things are just really hard to let go of; especially for me. I tend to want to linger in the past sometimes. I know its good to look back and remember fond memories, but tonight God is making me close the door on one that is very close to my heart. Let’s just say it has to do with folks I knew who were close to me and my journey into Salvation, and we could say they even Baptized me and others that came to know Christ around the same time. Time changed allot of stuff, and allot of @#$% hit the fan, and that is all I’ll say. I’ve never forgot them and hoped that things could one day be restored on some level somehow. God made it very clear to me that they are still wounded and fighting; and that is all I needed to hear to be able to say “God, you know every part of this; each persons heart and hurt that we carry, and you alone can repair our brokenness, so please come now to me, and to all the others who have been hurt, who have tried to move on and kept looking back, help us to heal, to be reassured by your love that you will work everything out in our lives for your purpose. Oh God, help us Let Go and trust. Give us new meaning, new friendships, new beginnings for this new year that is approaching. Lord I give this to you and wait expectantly for you to heal and restore. Thank You Jesus for what you are doing and will do in our lives”. I know that I had to go through this tonight to be able to move on with the things of God. It’s not the first time I’ve had to do this type of excersise with God, but I am sure glad He is making me with this. My Trust is in you Jesus!!! I’ve overcome many things, but only by the Power of God Working Through Me, and By My Surrender. WE CAN OVERCOME EVERYTHING WITH JESUS! There is such freedom in giving it all to God. Thank you Jesus, I just can’t say it enough, but you hear my heart!! Let My Testimony Ring Loud For Your Glory!!!!

  1. Merry Christmas Robin! Great post! Surrender has been and continues to be the most challenging part of my walk with God. But it has also been the most liberating! Letting go of “me, my, more, why, I, I deserve, etc” is a minute by minute struggle. Two books that have really helped me and given me some insight as to what God wants from me are: Humility & Absolute Surrender by Andrew Murray and The Imitation of Christ by Thomas Kempis. Though I am cautious about what I read outside of the Bible, they have truly given me some insight as to what I think God is asking of me in His Word. I’m not there yet, and I know I won’t be until the day I am with God, face to face, but everyday I think I’m a bit closer. I did write 2 posts regarding surrender; check them out if you get a chance!

  2. Robin there are things in which God had been telling me for a long time to “let go” but I hung onto them. Finally when the burden became to much for me, I “surrendered it all” to Him and let go. I had to learn I could not change people only God can do this. This is one lesson in which God has taught me and I live by to this day. Wonderful post my friend and I am glad that you let go and let God! AMEN! Love you!

  3. Hi Robin, how was your Christmas day? I like this post. Such an encouragement to us to let go of the past.
Have a happy new year. 🙂

  4. Oh how you are reading my mail. Recently I came face to face with the couple who were instrumental in my salvation. The first time I got spirit filled was under their leadership, but many wounds arose. I still speak to them but hurt lingered for quite a while. ty for the reminder to just let it go and let God deal with it…

  5. Hello Robin..I was just stopping by to say thanks for your comment on Consecrated To Him. Then I read this posting..

I know that letting go is hard sometimes. I think we all have gone through this at some point in our lives. It’s especially hard when there is hurt involved, but our Lord has everything in control. He uses everything that we go through all of our experiences to mold us and makes us stronger and more durable.

Remember that we don’t have to carry heavy burdens, He has offered to carry our load.

It’s good to look back sometimes, but we don’t have to dwell in the past. We are to look ahead always. Knowing that our Lord is doing something good and new in us and for us. God bless you sister..Hope to hear from you soon.

Have a great week and a Happy New Year!

  6. Hi Robin,
Good post! It’s ironic…so many can say “I surrender all” when things are going good, but the challenge and real test of faith is to remain surrendered to God when all hell breaks loose. You my dear friend, are such an inspiration to all of us. Your few words speaks volumes of how we need to relinquish control, and lay whatever it may be, at the foot of the cross! Blessings to you Robin!
