God often speaks to me through music, as I’ve said many times here and this week is no exception. My latest itunes download this week has been John Waller’s album “The blessing” There is a song on it called “Still calls me son”. Even if your a girl like me, I guarantee you’ll be able to relate as you listen to it. As I went to read my daily devotion today, it was all coming together for me. Mark 14:66-72:
Peter Disowns Jesus
66While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. 67When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him.
“You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus,” she said.
68But he denied it. “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about,” he said, and went out into the entryway.[a]
69When the servant girl saw him there, she said again to those standing around, “This fellow is one of them.” 70Again he denied it.
After a little while, those standing near said to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.”
71He began to call down curses on himself, and he swore to them, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about.”
72Immediately the rooster crowed the second time.[b] Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice[c] you will disown me three times.” And he broke down and wept.
We’ve all done it, and I’ll be first to say I am a prime example; after being saved and then falling away and becomming a single mom. When have you heard the rooster crow in your life? It’s good to look back and think on this because it let’s us be reminded of how awesome, loving, and forgiving our heavenly father it to us. His love is so vast we can’t even grasp it. This too is why we need to approach the throne of God with fear and trembling; not because we are afraid of what He might do, because we know that He is all loving; but becasue He is so Holy, and so powerful, and so righteous, that we need to learn to be reverent to Him. Know that no mater what you may have done in your life, God is waiting for you to repent and be set free of it. He will always take us back if we go to Him with a repentent heart. So as you listen to this song, I hope that it will remind you that God is always with us, and wanting us to run to Him so that we can be set free and live freely in Him. God Bless!!
